My great great grandfather, James Kearney, arrived in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania from Ireland in 1840 and went to Davenport, Iowa at the time of the anti-catholic riots in 1844.
He died at age 83 in Iowa in 1897.
I have no idea where in Ireland he came from. The family seems to think that he came from Cork, but that could have only been his point of departure. Any help would be appreciated.
