My gg-grandfather, Fergus O'Beirne (1799-1888), was born in Cammoge in the parish of Elphin, in the Barony and County of Roscommon, and PLU of Strokestown. (It's now spelled Camogue and is in the parish of Tulsk.) He married Margaret McDermott (1805-1880) and never emigrated. They had 11 children.
Catherine (1829- ?) emigrated to Philadelphia, married James Leonard and had two daughters, Catherine and Ann in Yardley, PA. I have been unable to find any descendants.
Their son, Fergus (1840-1896) went to Australia in 1862 and died in Cooktown, Queensland (descendants are in my Tree).
Roderick Dermott (1850-1928) went to New Orleans in 1868 and died in Denison, Texas without issue. Other sons of Fergus (1799-1888) who are unaccounted for were Michael (b.Aug. 28, 1827) and Martin (b. Oct. 21, 1841)
In the next generation in Camogue were the children of John O'Beirne (1835-1912) and his wife Anne Tansey (d. 1888) whose daughters Margaret(1875-1947) and Elizabeth(1879-1960) went to Philadelphia(c.1897) and married John Carroll, and Michael Skelly respectively.
Their brother Owen (1883-1923) settled in Philadelphia and married Delia Connell.
To go back to earlier times: Fergus (1799-1888) appears to be (but I can't prove it for lack of records) the son of Cairbre/Carberry O'Beirne, b. circa 1769, who had known sons John (or Owen) b. Sep. 27, 1810, Thomas b. Apr. 12, 1813, Michael b.Jan. 3, 1817, and Bernard b. Feb, 27, 1822.
It appears that all four of these emigrated to parts unknown, probably around the time of the Famine.
John E. (Sean) O'Beirne, (ex Camogue)
