My grandfather Michael Burns was born on June 29, 1885 in Knock, County Carlow. He came to the United States, settled in NY and was naturalized on March 16, 1913 in Sothern District Court, NY.
His father's name was Michael Byrne and mother was Maria (no maiden name yet!) My grandfather and his brother changed their spelling to Burns while the family was in reality Byrne.
