Iwould like to add some info pertaining to my "Byrne" ancestors.
My great grandmother was Alice E. Byrne. She was born on 9-30-1860 in County Monaghan, Ireland. C. 1870 Alice and her sister left Co. Monaghan and came to America to live with their uncle in Warwick, Rhode Island. Their uncle was a Judge and is known only by "Judge Byrne".
I have information indicating that Judge Byrne was also born in Co, Monaghan and emigrated c. 1848. He was married and had at least one male child. Judge Byrne had at least three grandchildren by his male child, Jimmy, Billy and Helen. Jimmy Byrne married and had at least one daughter who is presently living with her widowed mother somewhere outside of Boston, MA.
Alice and her sister upon arriving in Rhode Island, worked in the textile mills in Pontiac, RI. Alice married Thomas Henry Devlin (son of John Devlin and Isabella Pemberton) on 8-16-1883 in Natick, RI. Alice and John had six children: John Thomas, Mary Isabelle (my grandmother), Thomas H., Alice E., James E., and Gertrude A.
Alice died on 11-30-1921 in Providence, RI. Alice's death certificate indicates her last name as "Burns", but her last surviving child (now deceased) insisted that the original and correct spelling is "Byrne". Alice is buried with her husband in St. Ann's Cemetery.
I have considerable info on the descendants of Alice Byrne and Thomas Henry Devlin and will be happy to share with anyone who may be interested.
I can be reached at e-mail "firstname.lastname@example.org". I do not have a personal web page yet.
Thanks for any help you can provide.
